A Summer Must-Have for Outdoor Entertaining

The warmth and sunshine has finally arrived and now that we’re spending more time outdoors we want to be prepared for all summer has in store.

I stopped by a few stations around the country to share my new summer must-have for outdoor entertaining and events.

Outdoor events need protection

One of the best parts of summer is all of those outdoor summer parties. Unfortunately that sometimes means uninvited guests- the BUGS. And for those moments I have a new secret weapon.

The Zevo On-Body Mosquito and Tick Repellent helps keep those biting pests away with up to 8 hours of protection.

Zevo On-Body Mosquito and Tick Repellent is odorless, non-sticky, and offers wearable, mess-free protection.

And, you can just apply and go, because there are 3 formulas to choose from: pump spay, aerosol and lotion.

It’s an absolute summer must-have and only $9.99 at major retailers like Amazon, Target, Lowe’s, WalMart, Home Depot and more.

Plan ahead to make summer hosting easier

In terms of making summer hosting easier, there are a few simple tips I have that really help when the weather gets warmer.

First, plan and label dishes and serving vessels ahead of time so you know which foods are going where. I just use post-it notes and stick them in each platter or bowl with the name of the dish that will go in each. That way, you can see everything ahead of time, lay out your spread accordingly and make sure each of the dishes fit on your buffet or table. It also helps to determine ahead of time which dishes may need to be shielded from bugs (desserts) or kept cold or on ice (seafood, for example)

Speaking of ice, it’s important in the summer months to have an ice solution when you’re hosting. There’s nothing worse than running out of ice mid-party and having to run to the store. Portable ice makers that continually make ice are a great addition to outdoor entertaining. They’re easy to find and relatively reasonably priced. Or, if you’re purchasing ice from the store, have a good plan for storing it and keeping it cold until party time. One option is having an extra cooler or two (or borrowing one if needed) that are JUST for ice. Keep them in a separate area so you have a stash when things start to melt or you’re running low.

Most importantly, have realistic expectations for summer entertaining. It might get a bit sweaty or you may have a thunderstorm to contend with. That’s okay- just be weather aware and have a plan B if you do find yourselves needing to move a portion of the party indoors.
