Beat the Heat Picks As Seen On Daytime Tampa

The dog days of summer are HERE and I’m sharing my ‘Beat the Heat’ picks just in time. It hasn’t gotten out of the 90s all week here in the northeast. Sticky summer weather can make a lot of things tricky: deciding what to wear to the office or an event, protecting our skin from the elements, making sure the kids’ skin is sun-safe, and hydrating and healing our bodies after time spent in the heat. Fortunately, I have some great finds to share to help you beat the heat.

What to wear in the heat

I love the look and feel of linen for the summer months. White House Black Market has some perfect linen pieces for looking pulled together no matter how high the temperature rises. I love the paperbag shorts look and this linen pair is effortlessly cool (literally) with a great eye-catching border that lengthens the leg. I paired them with a delicately detailed white cami shell, which can be worn on its own or with their navy linen blazer on top. The blazer is modern and has a great pop of white in the pearlescent buttons. One of my other favorites from White House Black Market’s summer line is the Sandal dress, which is so breezy and cool, easy to dress up or down and super flattering. Pop on a statement hat for some added shade and a chic look to beat the heat.

Skincare for the summer months

Protecting our skin is so important this time of year. OLAY’s iconic micro-sculpting cream is a staple in my medicine cabinet all year round. OLAY just launched their newest red jar: Niacinamide + Peptide 24 face moisturizer. The 99 percent pure niacinamide helps repair the skin’s natural moisture barrier. I love that this has 3-in-1 hydration benefits: stronger skin, more even skin tone and visible wrinkle reduction. Plus, we all love a deal! Now through August 7th, you can get $8 off a two-pack at your local Sam’s Club or online at samsclub.com.

And, we can’t forget about the kiddos’ skin. We all know trying to apply sunscreen in sticky, steamy weather can turn into a bit of a wrestling match with the kids. I’m obsessed with my newest find called Solar Buddies. It’s a mess-free, roll-on, refillable sunscreen applicator. It’s SO easy to use that the kids can actually do it themselves. Of course, two moms created this. We know moms are the ultimate problem solvers! This is such a game changer and only $12.

Olive oil for the win

I have one more summer secret weapon to share. Post-beach and pool, we really want to hydrate and heal our bodies. We’ve all heard about many Mediterranean cultures using olive oil for their skin and hair and that’s exactly what Sciabica’s is all about. This stuff is GOLD. It smells good enough to eat, and you actually can! It’s made of just two, 100 percent natural ingredients: the Sciabica family’s award-winning cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and locally-harvested lavender or lemongrass. Not only does it hydrate from head to toe, but it gives a beautiful summery glow to your skin and offers the added benefit of feeling refreshed and smelling fantastic.
