Golden Immunity Smoothie

Once we hit January, boosting my family’s immunity and nutrition always becomes more of a priority, and this golden immunity smoothie has become a favorite. I am obsessed with the little immunity juice shots at Trader Joe’s. Have you tried them? My go-to’s are the ginger and turmeric. I decided to make a smoothie with a similar vibe, to get a bit of added protein in too.

So why is this an immunity booster? The orange brings a serious dose of Vitamin C and the ginger has a ton of detoxifying properties and helps with digestion. Turmeric is known as a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. And, chia seeds are also amazing for the digestion system.

There is just something about the vibrant gold color that brightens up the grayest of winter days. Plus, I’m a spicy gal and I love the little kick from the ginger. This is easy to customize though! Just reduce the ginger a bit if you don’t like as much of the spicy flavor.

One tip for the orange- I like to cut it in half and remove the pulp with a knife, almost like you do if you’re eating a grapefruit. Then, squeeze in the remaining juice.

I love this as breakfast and keep in mind, you can prep this Golden Immunity Smoothie the night before! Just store all the ingredients in your blending cup (if you have a personal blender) or in a mason jar, then add in the frozen mango right before whizzing it all together.



  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1 navel orange, juice and pulp (make sure to remove ALL the pith)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk (carton, not canned, can sub almond milk)


    1. Place all ingredients into a blender in the order listed.
    2. Blend together until smooth.
