How to Make a St. Patrick’s Day Snack Board

I love a theme, and I love snacks, so naturally it brings me joy to create themed-snack boards for any holiday or special occasion that comes our way. Of course, this St. Patrick’s Day snack board just screams luck o’ the Irish! I shared some tips for pulling together the perfect St. Patrick’s Day surprise on Lifestyle Today. Watch the segment here and you can check out some of what I used below.

Tip #1: Look for Themed or Color-Coordinated Items

I always start in the Target dollar section. I think the official name is Bullseye’s Playground, but you know where I mean- the section at the front of the store that has all kinds of adorable and inexpensive seasonal decor, accents, toys and useful household items. There are always some great finds for just a few bucks. If you’re at the grocery store, check the seasonal aisle first. From there, just take a walk around and see what pops out! For this St. Patrick’s Day snack board, the mint Oreos were a must. I also knew I wanted something with a rainbow look, so when I was walking down the candy aisle and the idea for the sour strips just came to me!

Tip #2: Swap in Fresh Fruits or Veggies

I kept this version dried for easier transporting into the studio, but there are tons of fresh food items that work well, especially on a green theme! Fresh snap peas would be super cute on this, and you could also easily make a rainbow with berries, pineapple, and the like.

Tip #3: Place Items in a Mix of Piles, Clusters and Lines

This is where the artistic side comes in! I like to do a mix of piles, clusters and lines to really make the board visually interesting. The good news in, there’s no wrong way to do this part…I typically just make it up as I go, as I see what looks good once I have it laid out.

Pretty easy to do, right?! I pulled together a shopping list of what I used right below, but as you can see, it’s so easy to customize something like this to do it your way.
